In Bavaria we are used to a very special way of "sled races". We call this huge slades "Horner" or "Schalengge".

In former times the farmers in the mountains cut in sommer gras and left it in cottages in the mountains. When the hay for the cows in Winter was over they brought it down from the mountains with theese slades. For young man it is great but very dangerous fun in modern times to have sled races with this antique slades.
